I am not sure exactly what your friend is doing, but if he is involved with affiliate selling, that is a very significant and growing opportunity. The way this business model works is that companies offer a commission for websites to refer customers to them. There are the more notable names like Amazon.com, but there are also thousands of lesser known names doing this as well.
The key to affiliate selling is to be sure and match your website content up with the right products and services. Amazon, for example, provides a way for affiliates to earn a commission on all book sales that are referred from their website. To customize the books that appear on your site, all you do is simply log into your affiliate account and select the books that you want to sell (e.g. If you have a home improvement site, you can sell Bob Vila books). Affiliates at Amazon earn up to 6% on each sale.
Another affiliate type of arrangement is to find a local business in your area that does not have a website. Offer to sell their items online for a commission. This is basically creating your own affiliate opportunity. I have a friend right now that is doing this with a local music store. He is selling their musical instruments online and it is a win-win for both parties.
I am in the process of releasing what is a ‘Virtual Business In A Box’, which will feature six businesses (including the affiliate business) that can all be done online. This product will be launched exclusively through Point of View Radio on February 11 (www.pointofview.net).
The affiliate business is a great one and we have some very good information coming soon for those looking to start an affiliate based website as a part time business. We will also be including some new information on the ‘Pay Per Click’ income opportunity as well.
